Anne de Beaujeu's imposing residence abandon the defensive aspect of the Middle Ages for the benefit of the comfort of the Renaissance and dominates the Loire valley.

After several owner's changes, the chateau is bought by the french department of the Loiret to shelter the sub prefecture, the court and the prison. Since 1952, it houses the "Hunting Museum" , helping to give a new lease of life to the town of Gien, much of which had been destroyed during the Second World War. The museum houses a sumptuous ollection of hunting artefacts dating from the Middle Ages to the present. The project was led by two hunters, PL Duchartre and H de Linares and enriched thanks to the generosity of a large numbers of donors ans loans from national museums. Important works of restoration of the site for 4 years allow from now on the public to discover hunting collections and hsitory in the Loire Valley.
